Those brass band lovers making their way to this weekend’s Great Northern Spring Festival, better make an early start due to anticipated road traffic problems on the M6 and other motorways and roads around Greater Manchester.
Demonstration
A projected petrol price demonstration and the Premiership title decider between Manchester United and Chelsea means that there could be gridlock on the way to the city during Sunday, so it is advisable to make sure you get an early start to miss all the potential trouble spots.
Plenty to enjoy
When you do get to Bridgewater Hall there is a great deal to look forward to however, with Rothwell Temperance conducted by David Roberts opening proceedings at noon.
They will be followed by the Yorkshire Youth Brass Band and National Champions Brighouse & Rastrick, before the event is rounded off by Black Dyke Band and Foden’s Band who will joined by trumpet virtuoso Jens Lindemann.
