Top trio head for Music for Youth

Three of the UKs top youth bands will perform at the prestigious Music for Youth Festival this year.

Three leading youth bands are set to perform at the prestigious Music for Youth Festival in July.

Smithills

Smithills School Senior Brass Band and MD Chris will be appearing at the event for an unprecedented 18th time, hoping to add to their collection of awards, which include 14 ‘Outstanding Performance and Sponsor’s Awards’ and a further 10 ‘Highly Commended’ titles.

Elland

Meanwhile, Elland Silver has received an invitation to perform as representatives of Calderdale.

Musical Director, Miss Samantha Harrison told 4BR: "We are delighted to be invited to represent Calderdale. This is a fantastic opportunity for our young musicians to perform in such a nationally acclaimed event."

Abraham Derby

Also making the trip yet again will be members from the Abraham Darby Academy, Madeley, Telford. The Academy Showband has been invited to participate in the School Wind Band category.

Rachel Morton, the Academy’s Head of Music told 4BR: "We are honoured that the Academy had received an invitation to this year’s National Festival, and that the invitation represented a remarkable achievement and was a testament to the many hours of hard work and dedication of all the band members."

Tintwistle Band

June 9 • Tintwistle Band are looking for a 2nd horn player to help complete the team. . We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm under the baton of our MD Jim Henson, at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
