4BR has been informed of the death of Roy Parson, one of the most respected players and conductors in South Wales banding.
Long career
Roy passed away earlier this week after a short illness and during a long career was a player with Cory, Tredegar and Parc & Dare on euphonium and tuba.
He later became a much respected conductor of Blaenavon Town Band for over 20 years and during that period taught a whole generation of players to enjoy brass music making – many of whom still play in local South Wales bands to this day.
