Wales is sending two talented and very excited young players to represent the Principality at the European Championships in Montreux.

Looking forward

Tom Howells and Catherine Showell have already flown to Switzerland to meet up with counterparts from all over Europe, and told 4BR that they are looking forward to being part of a truly unique band.

Great opportunity

Eb tuba Tom who plays for the Rogerstone Band and horn player Catherine who plays with Lewis Merthyr are members of the National Youth Brass Band of Wales and told 4BR: "Playing with the EYBB is a great opportunity to meet fellow musicians from all over Europe. It’s a real honour to represent Wales."

Honour

Meanwhile, Catherine from Camarthen is in her fourth year at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and is also looking forward to playing with the very best young brass and percussion players in Europe.

"I feel honoured to be representing Wales and I'm really looking forward to performing with young people from other parts of Europe."

Unique opportunity

Welsh EBBA representative Alex James told 4BR: "This is a unique opportunity for our young players. I wish them, as well as Tredegar and Cory the best of luck in Montreux."
