4BR has been informed that the organizers of UniBrass are launching a competition to find a new composition to be performed at the 2012 University Brass Band Championships.
The piece will be premiered before the results of the contest on the 18th February next year, as well as being used in workshops the following day.
Composition
The pieces considered should be between 10 and 15 minutes in duration and playable by a Second Section graded band.
Entrants must be 25 years of age or under as at the 31st October 2011.
Prize
The winning composer will receive a prize of £2000 and the composition will be published by Devilish Publishing.
Judging Panel
The decision will be made by a panel of five: the UniBrass Chair, Rhian Davies and Secretary, Rebecca Hardman, a representative from the British Federation of Brass Bands, and the composers James McFadyen and Philip Harper.
