A small church in Mossley in the heart of Tameside Whit Friday contesting country has put out a plea for a brass band to help it in its traditional Whit Friday procession.
All Saints
Sarah Platt of the All Saints Church, in Mossley told 4BR: "On June 17th our local area celebrates Whit Friday. During the traditional procession each church marches through Mossley and each church has a brass band. The morning is very popular in the local area with many people traveling down to watch the procession event."
Unfortunately this year we are struggling to get a band to march with us, and we would love to maintain our part in this wonderful traditionSarah Platt
Struggling
She added: "Unfortunately this year we are struggling to get a band to march with us, and we would love to maintain our part in this wonderful tradition.
If there is a band that would be able to march with our church during the procession in the morning, we would be ever so grateful – and it will give them an early chance to try out their contest march!"
