New name for Thornbury

Thornbury drop their castle to make progress...

Thornbury Castle Band has taken the decision to change its name to Thornbury Town Band with immediate effect.

Progress

They hope the new name is a timely progression coinciding with their recent programme of reforming from a former training band to a concert and contesting band.

Links

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The name change is aimed at clarifying the band’s identity, strengthening its links within the town and putting Thornbury Town back on the brass band map."

New MD

During 2010, the band significantly increased its participation in local events, entered its first ever competition, recording it’s first CD, and welcomed a new MD, Darren Williams, together with a number of new and returning players.

Exciting time

The spokesperson added: "This is a very exciting time. We are ambitious and hope that the Thornbury community will get behind us and help support the growth of its very own band."
