The members of Catterick Brass had plenty to celebrate at Darlington last weekend with the news that they had won the North of England Area title — despite losing two important members to overseas postings!
Falklands
Despite their best efforts to try and get him to rehearsals their former conductor Stuart Halliday was unable to make the commute from his posting to the Falkland Islands, whilst principal horn player had the same problems after his posting to Afghanistan.

Re-jig
Thankfully, Brenden Wheeler stepped into the breach with the baton and with a re-jig of personnel the horn position was filled too in time for the contest.
Unique
Band spokesperson Lee C Whitworth ATCL, told 4BR: "The band were delighted with the outcome. This is what makes Catterick unique, forming to allow players whose work commitments don’t allow them to give a full commitment a chance to get together and play at this standard."
