Bonerama will be featured both Friday and Saturday at this year’s Ohio Brass Arts Festival, April 1 2. This brass combo of three trombones, sousaphone, two guitars and drum kit have repeatedly been recognized by Rolling Stone Magazine, hailed as “the ultimate in brass balls” (2005). More recently they backed up REM for a track on their new album Collapse Into Now and earned the Big Easy Award for Best Rock Band in 2010.
Friday evening’s free event will at 7pm. Bonerama will have a 45-minute clinic, which will be followed by the finals for the Ohio Brass Arts Festival composition contest. All are welcome to bring their instruments as participants read through the finalists and honorable mentions.
Saturday’s event will run from 9am – 6pm and feature twelve bands from around Ohio and the U.S. including the host Central Ohio Brass Band, Brass Band of Cclumbus, Brass Band of the Western Reserve, , Chapel Brass, Dublin Cornet Band, Scioto Valley Brass & Percussion Company, TBDBITL Alumni Band, Brass Band of the Tri-State (from Kentucky) and the Triangle Youth Brass Band and Triangle Youth Brass Ensemble (from North Carolina).
The event concludes on Saturday with Bonerama returning to the stage for the grand finale including the performance of “Bap Bap” with festival participants. Bonerama will then perform later that evening at Park Street Tavern from 10pm to 2am.
