Peel Hall in Salford is hosting a North West Area contest prequel event on Thursday evening, when five bands have asked to be informally adjudicated upon in the final stages of their preparation ahead of the Regional contest at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens on Sunday.

The experienced Malcolm Brownbill has offered his services and he will cast a critical ear over the performances.
All five pieces
It all starts at 7.30pm with the Fourth Section contenders Besses Boys under James Holt as they perform John Golland’s ‘Prelude, Song & Dance’, before ‘A Little Light Music’ will be performed by Third Section competitors Eccles Borough led by Mareika Gray.
Flixton will be led through the Second Section set work, ‘Resurgam’ by Steve Curtis, before Rainford will give a contest preview of the First Section work, ‘Carnival Romain’ under Neil Samuel.

And to round things off, the current English National Champion Fairey (Geneva) under Russell Gray will perform ‘Paganini Variations’.
