Composer Tom Davoren has seem two of his most recent solo compositions recorded at both ends of the banding world over the weekend — one in the UK and one in Australia.

His new work for solo trombone and chamber ensemble 'Dark Voices' explores the primal concept of conflict through balancing the flexible timbre of the trombone with a darkly coloured, opposing ensemble, and was recorded in Caerphilly by trombone virtuoso Jonathan Pippen.

Proverbs
Meanwhile, thousands of miles away, hiss new conertino for euphonium and brass band, 'Proverbially' — based on a set of modern proverbs, was also recorded in Sydney by Australian Champion Band, Gunnedah Shire, with their MD Jason Katsikaris at the helm.
Looking forward
With the busy contesting season heating up, Tom is also looking forward to the end of March, where his 'Looking In . . .' for Wind Orchestra will be premiered by the Eynsford Concert Band as part of the BASBWE 2011 London Festival.
