Dutch Sparke

Bands wishing to compete at the Dutch Open later this year will have to get to grips with Philip Sparke's Battle Creek test pice.

Organisers of the Dutch Open or ‘Mini-WMC’ as it is also known since it was started in 2007 have announced that Philip Sparke’s 'Music for Battle Creek' will be the set work for the contest, which will be held in Kerkrade on 30th September this year.

Places available

Open to Championship Section bands there are only 6 places available for bands wishig to compete against wind band and ensemble rivals.

Every band will perform an artistic programme of 60 minutes which includes the test piece ‘Music for Battle Creek’Organisers

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Every band will perform an artistic programme of 60 minutes which includes the test piece ‘Music for Battle Creek’."

The Dutch Open will be held on Friday 30 September (Fanfare Bands), Saturday 1 October (Brass Bands) and Sunday 2 October (Wind Bands) in the renewed Roda Hall in Kerkrade.
