The Fairey (Geneva) Band has announced the appointment of Mark Peacock as its new Associate Conductor.

Respected

Mark is well known in North West banding circles as a former player with YBS and Fairey's, but more recently as a highly respected conductor of bands such as Pemberton Old and Longridge.

Delighted

Mark told 4BR: "I’m delighted and honoured to be offered the role of Associate Conductor with Fairey (Geneva). I have thoroughly enjoyed working with them in several concerts in 2010 and look forward to working with Russell in the preparation for contests this year."

These are very special times for me — its feels like I'm coming home again!Mark Peacock

Family ties

Mark's dad Ray, who played with Fairey's for over 30 years is extremely proud that the Peacock connection is re-established and is looking forward to seeing him conduct at various high profile concert venues around the UK.

Mark played at Fairey's during their early 90's heyday alongside his father, brother Stuart, and uncle, former principal cornet Brian Taylor.

Special timesb

He added: "These are very special times for me — its feels like I'm coming home again! Brian of course is still here along with my young cousin Matthew on 2nd baritone."
