Tameside Open to go ahead

Organisers confirm Tameside Open Championship will go ahead.

Tameside

4BR has been informed that the popular Tameside Open Championship will definitely go ahead next month following a decision made by the local authority to continue support for the event.

Prize money

The contest will now take place at Dukinfield Town Hall on Sunday 27th March, with generous prize money in all four sections.

Contest controller Frank Hodges told 4BR that the decision is a welcome one. "There are so many concerns over local authority finances at present, but this is wonderful news and shows Tameside’s continued commitment to brass banding.”

Details

Frank confirmed that schedules will be sent to all bands that competed in last year’s event as well as member bands of the North West Brass Band Association.

"We would like to see as many bands as possible enter the event this year," he added. "We will welcome entrants in all sections."

The own choice contest will see a combined Championship/First Section as well as a Second, Third and Fourth Section.
