Torbay steady a rocking ship

A new year of promise awaits Torbay after they sail through rocky waters.

After a period of steadying a rocking ship, 2010 saw Torbay Brass enjoy a busy and encouraging year of progress.

Concerts

With numerous concerts helping to raise much need money for local charities, the band also enjoyed an increase in player numbers and was able to attend four contests during the season.

Improve

Band Chairman David Wilkinson told 4BR: "We have during the rebuilding period had players who have joined us with little or no contesting experience. The four contests allowed those players to gain invaluable experience and enabled the band to improve its playing."

Rebuilding

The rebuilding process has continued into 2011, with Ralph Foster joining on the solo cornet bench, Geoff Schofield returning on Eb bass, Nigel Cook coming back on percussion and Ian Huxham moving from solo cornet to euphonium.
