4BR has been informed that the popular north east trombonist Tom Haswell sadly passed away on 23rd January aged 82.
Solo trombone
Tommy started playing with Horden Salvation Army Band before joining the famous Horden Colliery Band in 1950. He went on to become solo trombone with the Easington Band before rejoining Horden in 1985.
Renowned
A spokesperson told 4BR: "Tommy was renowned for his stylish trombone solos, with his performances the highlight of many a concert. A great showman, Tommy was fantastic at entertaining his audience. He will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time."

Funeral
The funeral will be held at 10.30am on Saturday 29th January at Horden Salvation Army, Dene Street.
Anyone wishing to play at the service should arrive at 9.45am.
