Bodmin continues to fill up

Bodmin's players ranks are filling up quicker than a motorist on a pre VAT petrol price hike...

Bodmin

Bodmin Town Band has announced further additions to the ranks.

More

Continuing the recent swelling of their playing numbers headed by new principal cornet Mo Whitehead, joining her is the father and son duo of horn player Brian Cowling and soprano Malcolm from St Breward Band.

Return

Meanwhile, Les Buse, who had a spell with Bodmin back in the 90’s has returned on flugel horn, whilst Louise Oliver who has recently moved to Cornwall having previously played with Dobcross joins on baritone.

Louise is joined in the section by Linaire Perry, whilst strengthening the front row cornets is Cindy Stephens, who was Mo’s bumper-up at St Breward.

The important thing has been to recruit players who are committed for the long term rather than just a quick fix of ‘bums on seats’Chairman, Ryan Retallack

Almost Complete!

Band spokesman Lee Morford told 4BR: "With Garry Lannie taking up the baton and a recent surge of interest from players, our line-up is now almost complete. This resurgence is fantastic, considering the band was only re-launched last summer, when we had more empty seats than full ones!"

Long term

Band Chairman Ryun Retallack agreed: "The important thing has been to recruit players who are committed for the long term rather than just a quick fix of ‘bums on seats’. We’ve stuck to this principle and are now all looking forward to the year ahead."
