Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band has announced the arrival Martin Squires to the solo euphonium chair just in time for the bands forthcoming trip to the Butlins Mineworkers Contest in Skegness.

Ian Knapton told 4BR: "Martin brings with him a wealth of experience at playing at the highest level and he joins his wife Karen who plays flugel, who joined last September."

It has also been revealed that the band will undertake the recording of their fourth CD in May as well as their promoting their annual concert in aid of Leukaemia Research, the Anthony Nolan Trust and Ashgate Hospice which will feature this year that well known 1980s heartthrob pop star Chesney Hawkes.
