Foden’s Composer in Residence Andy Scott has become the Artistic Director of the newly formed Sandbach Concert Series.
With major funding from Sandbach Town Council, Arts Council England & Cheshire East, Andy will initially direct eight concerts a year for three years, after which it is hoped that the series will be self-funding.
International
The opening series of concerts will feature international jazz pianist Gwilym Simcock, opera star Jane Irwin, musicians from the Halle Orchestra and cornet virtuoso Richard Marshall.

Wonderful opportunity
Andy told 4BR: "This is a wonderful opportunity for local people to hear world class musicians on their doorstep, and builds on the amazing work that Foden’s undertakes in the community as well as the fine standard of music making in Sandbach schools."
The brainchild of professional harpist (and Andy’s wife) Lauren Scott, each concert will be preceded by a ‘Spotlight Concert’ that features local young musicians.
Young talent showcase
Sandbach Town Councilor Elsie Alcock told 4BR: "This gives the young musicians of our local and surrounding area a chance to show their talent and gives the people of Sandbach a chance to hear professional artists from further afield.
Thanks to Lauren and Andy who are able to bring these artists into our town and thanks to the artists for coming to Sandbach and helping with the Concert Series!"
