Grimethorpe to honour Postlethwaite

Grimethorpe to honour actor with musical tribute.

Grimethorpe

Grimethorpe Colliery Band is to provide a musical remembrance of the actor Pete Postlethwaite, who took the leading role of the conductor Danny in the film ‘Brassed Off!’

Re-enactment

In tribute to the actor who died aged 64 last week, Grimethorpe will re-enact the famous ‘deathbed’ scene of the film when they performed ‘Danny Boy’ outside the hospital where the conductor was seriously ill. Miraculously of course, he recovers to lead ‘Grimley’ to National success.

Time and place

On Thursday 13th January at 7.00pm, outside the band’s headquarters at the Acorn Centre in High Street, Grimethorpe, the band will play ‘Danny Boy’ as a tribute to the actor who later became a firm supporter and of the band.

Members of the public are welcome to join the band at the event, whilst the band has also recorded footage for inclusion at the end of a tribute television show4BR

Welcome

Members of the public are welcome to join the band at the event, whilst the band has also recorded footage for inclusion at the end of a tribute television show to be broadcast by the BBC next weekend.
