At the funeral of Cornish bandsman Alan Faraway earlier this year, such was the large number of current and former players in attendance that it was decided to commemorate a bandsman who gave over 60 years of service to the banding movement by forming the ‘Heart of Cornwall Band’.
Associations
The band is made up of around 45 players who knew Alan well, with many playing alongside the popular bandsman during his associations with Bodmin, Kernow, Camborne and St. Pinnock.
This coupled with players from bands that Alan regularly helped during his banding career, has meant a band that has huge experience.

Guest conductors
Several guest conductors have also come forward to lend their services, among them Leonard Adams, Brian Minear and Aaron Harvey, whilst Phillip Hunt will be providing his excellent compere services.
The band hope to perform a number of charity concerts in the new year and hope to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, Alan’s chosen charity, who are promoting the concert.
