Kibworth loss

Kibworth say a Christmas goodbye to MD John Hudson.

Kibworth

Starting with their Christmas Concerts this weekend, the Kibworth Band have a busy period with much of their fund raising going towards the provision of a small Christmas gift to residents of the villages of Kibworth and Smeeton Westerby who are 70 years of age.

Tradition

This is a tradition dating back to the early 1960's when the villagers joined in fund raising to get the band to the London finals, and was featured on the recent Michael Woods television series, ‘Story of England’ in the village of Smeeton Westerby.

Departure

Sadly, the concerts saw Musical Director, John Hudson, conduct Kibworth for the last time as after nearly three years at the helm, he, has decided on a career change.

During his time with Kibworth, John has introduced new players and has worked hard to rebuild the band and raise its standardsKibworth Band

Raise standards

A spokesperson told 4BR: "During his time with Kibworth, John has introduced new players and has worked hard to rebuild the band and raise its standards. We are sorry to lose him but are pleased that he has agreed to maintain his links and wish him every success."
