The Wessex Brass Band Association Winter Contest took place at Weymouth Pavilion last weekend, where a fine line up of bands provided plenty of high class musical entertainment.
Outstanding
Following on from their recent encouraging appearance at the Scottish Open Championships in Perth, it was Woodfalls under Gareth Pritchard who produced an outstanding performance of Simon Dobson’s '…and when the river told…' to claim the Christopher Wren Cup and take the Pitt River Trophy as Wessex Champion.
Woodfalls also went home with a suitcase full of silverware for individual players too, with awards to soprano player Mark Pye, Graham Lawrence and Kevin Darby as well as the bass and percussion section.
