St Marys Band Club

St Mary’s Band Club, Sydney, Australia instigated a 1 year scholarship for Australasian Band Conductors in 2009.

During the past year the 2010 conducting scholar, Matthew van Emmerik, has directed the St Mary’s Band with distinction, winning both the Keller Band of the Year and the City of Penrith Eisteddfods.

The Scholarship

St Mary’s Band Manager and Club Director, Mr. Ken Bradley, informed 4BRDU: “Following the success of the inaugural conducting scholarship program in 2010, St Mary’s Band Club is once again offering a one year Australasian Band Conductors scholarship for 2011. The ABC scholar will receive regular conducting tuition and practical performance workshops with the music advisor to St Mary’s Band Club, Professor David King and will also receive a stipends bursary for one year.
