Regional test piece workshop

There is an ideal opportunity to get some early homework done on the 2011 regional test pieces as ABBA announces test piece workshop.

ABBA

The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators has announced that they will be holding their Annual General Meeting at the Cleckheaton Sports Club, Bradford Road, Cleckheaton at 1.00 pm on Sunday 2nd January next year.

Joining forces

Following the meeting ABBA will be joining forces with No2 Area of The National Association of Brass Band Conductors in promoting an Open Workshop covering the chosen works for Sections 4, and 2 of the Regional Test Pieces for 2011.

The free workshop will commence at 1.00pm, and will be open to any interested party to attend.

Three pieces

The three pieces will be introduced by Philip Harper who will outline the various points of interest contained in the music from an adjudicating aspect.

In promoting this workshop the two Associations are keen to encourage a large attendanceMal Brownbill, ABBA

Help

Philip will be assisted by Simone Rebello who will identify any percussion difficulties, whilst the Drighlington Band, conducted by Jim Davis will provide the ensemble.

Ample opportunity will also be given to members of the NABBC and anyone present to contribute both practically and verbally during the presentation of each piece.

It is proposed to allow 75 minutes for the exploration of each piece, with a break for light refreshments at some stage during the proceedings. This should result in a 5.00pm finish.

Excellent opportunity

Mal Brownbill told 4BR: "In promoting this workshop the two Associations are keen to encourage a large attendance.

It will provide an excellent opportunity for players, conductors and adjudicators and all who have an interest in competitions to exchange views on the many varied aspects of contest promotion, preparation and adjudication."
