Concord book their flight to Montreux after Danish National victory, led by Russell Gray.

Concord Brass Band has won the 2010 Danish National Championships and with it the right to represent the country at the European Championships in Montreux in 2011.

Thrilling

Directed by Russell Gray, the defending champion retained its title at the Herning Congress Centre in Jutland on the weekend with a set of thrilling performances of the set work 'Titan’s Progress' and their own choice selection of 'Music of the Spheres'.

Shift

The victory signals a significant shift in the musical powerbase in the country, with multiple National champion Lyngby-Taarbeak conducted by Garry Cutt coming runner up for the second year in a row, a clear margin behind the winners.

Their performance of their own choice selection of 'Rococo Variations' wasn't enough to make up the two point gap after the set work section.

Third place in the four band field of competitors went to the rejuvenated Aarhus Brass Band conducted by Marieka Gray, who performed 'Harrison's Dream' as their own choice selection.

Swedish title

Russell now casts his sights on another Scandanavian title as he leads the newly formed Oresund Brass Band (named after the sea between Denmark/Copenhagen and Sweden/Malmo) at the Swedish National Championships in two weeks time.
