Thurcroft Welfare Band are getting ready to celebrate two very important milestones.
Honour
Band Chairman Nigel Butler told 4BR: "Earlier this year, it was suggested that the band ought to do something to honour the commitment of bass trombone player Harry Spotwood."
Nigel added: "Harry has played for and made a significant contribution to all aspects of Thurcroft Band for well over 50 years. During a conversation with Peggy Tomlinson of the YHBBA, we were made aware of the Long Service Award, but when we got down and discussed it, we realised that no less than six of our players fell into the same category!"

Fantastic achievement
In recognition of the fantastic achievement the band will be holding a special presentation evening later this month where all six players with over 300 years service between them will be honoured.
The evening will also see the Thurcroft’s Training Band recognised with a performance of a new march called '100 Not Out' written by Darrol Barry, whilst a new award donated by euphonium player Alan Harries in remembrance of his late father will be presented to them.
