The producers of the BBC television programme, 'A Band for Britain' have announced that the short series featuring the members of the Dinnington Colliery Band has been nominated for a prestigious Royal Television Society Award.

The Shine Productions programme saw presenter Sue Perkins successfully encourage a resurgence in the band’s fortunes, and has been nominated in the ‘Best Reality Programme’ category.
Tough opposition
They will be up against as equally tough opposition as they were at the Yorkshire Regional Championships, where they qualified for the Lower Section National Finals in Harrogate, as they are to battle it out for votes against 'Dragon’s Den', 'Jeremy Kyle’s 1000th Show' and 'The Toughest Driving Test'.

Awards night
The Awards will be held at the Hilton Hotel, Manchester oon 20th November, where the band will be represented by Band Manager, Joanne Brookes-Wright and principal cornet, Sally Bannan.
The awards are voted on by the general television viewing public.
