Lanner Brass Academy has been awarded a prestigious 'Commendation for Exemplary Practice' by Creating Excellence South West.

The 'Rewards 2010' programme, celebrates the achievements of projects in the region, where excellent work and outstanding results have helped communities and improved people's lives.
Lanner Brass Academy were the only Cornish organisation to receive an award.

Academy Manager, Lee Rouse told 4BR: "Since the initial inception of the Academy we have strived to create something a little different. Learning a brass instrument is not the easiest thing and young children can quickly get frustrated and lose interest."

Aim
Lee added: "Our aim has always been to provide more than just brass tuition. The Academy band has already performed three concerts in the short time it has been in existence as well as having many social events. I think that this award recognises the hard work and dedication of all those involved."
