Enfield Citadel Band has been putting the final touches to their programme, ready for the annual pre Nationals Festival concert, this Friday.

New works

Bandmaster Jonathan Corry has been preparing a number of new works to be featured and will be joined by his good friends Les Neish and Dr. Roger Webster.

Several premieres will be performed, including a UK first for Dr. Peter Meechan’s 'Manchester Concertino' for cornet and brass band.

Accessible

The composer told 4BR: "I wanted to write a piece for cornet that was accessible to players. I'm delighted that Jonathan and Roger are giving the UK premiere as I've known Roger from my time as 'Composer in Association' with Black Dyke and I went to college with Jonathan. It is also the first time, to my knowledge, that an SA band has performed a piece of mine."

Fantastic

Commenting on the event, tuba star Les Neish added: "It really is great to be in London performing in the concert. It's set to be a fantastic evening of music making and it is always a pleasure for me to work with Jonathan and Roger."
