The 2010 West of England Area champion has announced the appointment of Andy Smith as principal cornet following the departure of Chris Howley earlier in the year.

Andy has been the band's bumper up since April 2009 and is said to be looking forward to his first contest on the end chair at this year's National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The band would like to extend its thanks to Chris for his many year's service and are also expected to announce many more new signings within the coming weeks."
