Bolsover District Council’s forthcoming 'Festival of Brass' has received a £2,000 grant from Derbyshire County Council’s Arts Festival scheme to help the event expand and become what they believe will be Britain’s ‘Premiere Entertainment Festival’.
Thrive and grow
The Council was awarded the maximum £2,000 to help widen arts activities and enable the Festival of Brass to thrive and grow.
The Festival will be held on Sunday 3rd October at Post Mill Centre, South Normanton and Pinxton Village Hall and will include 44 bands participating making it one of the leading brass entertainment festivals in Britain.
By expanding the Festival, we can accommodate more bands and more audience members, which can only be good for the event and the arts in generalCarole Crompton
Only good
Carole Crompton told 4BR: "By expanding the Festival, we can accommodate more bands and more audience members, which can only be good for the event and the arts in general.
"We have been looking at ways to improve the experience for those attending, and this grant will help us to do that. One of the main benefits will be high class action photography of the event provided by Goldy Solutions to create a hardback commissioned book featuring participating bands, which will be awarded to the winning band of each section when produced."
Carole added: "We are also recording the day’s performances using Chorum, a company specialising in festival recordings. A paperback version of the book and CD’s will be available for purchase when completed.
"All the images of the day’s event will be available to download free from Bolsover District Council’s website after the event."
