Three members of the Enderby Band recently picked up awards at the Wessex Summer School.
Awards
Recipient of the Elinor Tolfree Award for the wind band player making the most progress was Enderby clarinettist Debbie Neath, whilst Enderby Concert Band bass player Mike Lane Spouge received the brass band award.
James Screaton, who plays with both Enderby Youth and Senior Bands, and played principal cornet for the Wessex Band, was awarded the Andrew Pitts Plate for the student making the most progress overall, presented by the Course Director Mike Fowles.
Distinction
Enderby Youth Band MD, Trevor Hounsome, told 4BR: "Congratulations go to James for representing the band with distinction."

Meanwhile, Enderby’s Youth Band were recently invited to the Vosges region of eastern France by the Remiremont Brass Band, and enjoyed playing several highly acclaimed concerts in the towns of Vittel, Rambervillers, and Remiremont.
The Enderby organisation is now returning the compliment and in mid-August will be hosting a visit by their French friends and their Musical Director, Pierre Marie Budelot.
