4BR has been informed of the death of John Newbigging on Wednesday 4th August, just eleven days before his 96th birthday.
Stalwart
John was a stalwart of banding in the North West with a strong commitment to the teaching of young people in the Wigan Area.
His dedication to the National Association of Brass Band Conductors was immense. He loved the movement and particularly his trombone, which he continued to play right up to his passingMal Brownbill

Condolences have been passed to his wife June and his family.
Service
The funeral service will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel at Scholes Cross, in Wigan at 1.30.pm. on Friday 13th August.
