After success at the NZ National Brass Band Championships last month North Shore Brass have gone straight into rehearsals and a two week season of Brassed Off in partnership with the Company Theatre on Auckland's North Shore.
Director of the show Kathy Gent says "We are so fortunate to have the professional assistance from the members of North Shore Brass help us put this show on, we have been impressed with the preparation and to have a band member successfully audition for one of the lead parts is just a bonus" she said.
North Shore Brass flugelhorn player Carolyn Ramsbottom is playing Gloria in her first stage show. "I was encouraged to audition and I am so glad I did. This is such a great play and being from Yorkshire myself it has special significance," said Carolyn.
Many of the props have been sourced from Britain thanks to the efforts of the Company Theatre members with authentic football jerseys, band banners plus uniforms from New Plymouth Operatic Society.
The season opened from last night (Friday) with Gala performance to sponsors and local supporters at the Rose Centre in Belmont and runs till Saturday 21st August.
