Members of Tongwynlais Temperance Band will heed the advice of Norman Tebbit later this week, by getting on their bikes to cycle 126 miles to Symphony Hall in Birmingham.
Trek
The trek has been organised to raise funds for the band as they get ready to compete at the British Open for the first time in their 123 year history.
This sponsored bike ride will start at St David’s Hall in the centre of Cardiff on 3rd August, and will head for Symphony Hall via the Severn Bridge, Gloucester and Worcester before reaching Birmingham the next day.

Raise funds
Band Manager Nick Wills told 4BR: "Unfortunately the band doesn’t benefit from a main sponsor, so although we are delighted we are playing at the British Open it was imperative that we found ways to raise much needed funds for the event."
The intrepid peloton of Alyn James, Jason Bevan, Morgan James, Susanne Jones, Trystan Jones and Dan Neale have also kept their lips in trim recently after performing with the band in a concert in Cornwall, playing at the Hayle festival on the weekend.
The sextet’s progress can also be monitored through the Tongwynlais band website.
