The Coleshill Band recently undertook the ambitious project of performing the Denis Wright arrangement of Handel’s ‘Messiah’ at two local churches.

Enormous feat

Joined by the Mercia Singers, directed by Peter Elliot of Lichfield’s Christchurch, and with soloists from Birmingham Conservatoire in Soprano, Li Li, Alto, Claire Barnett-Jones, Tenor, Peter Nicholson and Bass, Matthew Stone, the Fourth Section band successfully pulled off the enormous feat by performing the work over three nights.

The band believes that it is the first time that the work has been performed in the UK by a Fourth Section band, so everyone involved felt a real sense of achievement.
