Queen's Award
The band was awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service, the 'MBE' for voluntary groups, in recognition of their outstanding voluntary contribution to the local community and supporting local and national charities.
Shock
Kathleen told 4BR: "It was quite a shock to receive the letter informing us that the band had been granted this award and the invitation to attend the garden party. It recognises the hard work and time that has been invested over a long number of years."
Reception
The Elland quartet will travel to London in transport provided by Calderdale Community transport, a charity that provides transport for the disabled and elderly of the community thus enabling Kathleen and Kenneth to take their wheelchairs.
The band has been invited to a civic reception at Halifax Town Hall in recognition of their work later this year.
