After months of hard work and commitment to the cause, the sound of regular brass band playing is about to be heard once more in Bodmin.
Arson attack
An arson attack late last year left the Bodmin bandroom in ashes, along with instruments, their music library and mementos from their proud history.
However, the vandals didn’t extinguish the band’s spirit and on Tuesday 13th July, they will be holding an open rehearsal in a bid to attract a new generation of players back to the fold.
We hope to be able to get up to full strength in time for the Areas next year. I just hope the test piece will be 'Resurgam' – it would be appropriate don’t you think?MD, Graham Boag
Personnel
After sorting out all the structural problems, the band is now getting to grips with the personnel ones as MD Graham Boag told 4BR:
"We have a full set of instruments available to members, a replenished library from the former Sun Life library, a new bandroom will be built and we remain in the Second Section for 2011," he said.
"All players new and old are welcome to join us for this, the first rehearsal of the band since the fire. We would be more than happy to see you there and at future weekly rehearsals. These will be every Tuesday initially but will soon go to two rehearsals a week."
Resurgam
Graham added: "We hope to be able to get up to full strength in time for the Areas next year. I just hope the test piece will be 'Resurgam' – it would be appropriate don’t you think?"
Open rehearsal
The open rehearsal will take place on Tuesday 13th July in The Public Rooms, Bodmin form 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm
