Players from Newhall Band have won prizes at the first City of Coventry and Warwickshire Brass Festival, held at Bablake School in on the weekend.

Solo prizes

Patricia Woodings, the band's solo horn player, won the Open Slow Melody class as well as third prize in the Open Air Varie.

Meanwhile, Shiela Dixon, who plays solo cornet, won third prize in the Slow Melody class, and second place in the Air Varie Section.

Entertainment

The prizes rounded off a pretty successful period for the band , as they recently won third prize overall and second prize for entertainment at the 'Battle of the Bands' entertainment contest hosted by Ireland Colliery Band.
