Quiet rebuilding work in Marple

Former British Open champions are taking a quiet road back to better days.

The Marple Band has been quietly re building over the past few years, and the former British Open champion has welcomed several new players to their ranks.

Additions

Recent new additions include David Caine on solo horn, trombonist Dave Jones, Eb bass, Gareth Steele, cornet player Ian Moffett and percussionist Cara Lallement.

The experienced Bob Wyatt who was appointed conductor earlier this year is confident the band is progressing quietly but effectively although the band remain non competitive at present, aiming to perform good quality concert music at local events.

Having an updated site will encourage new players to the band, keep the vice president members of the band up to date and also inform visitors to the site about the next concert datesIan Moffett

Website launch

The band also celebrate the launch of its new website.

Modern in appearance, the site’s webmaster, Ian Moffett, told 4BR: "Having an updated site will encourage new players to the band, keep the vice president members of the band up to date and also inform visitors to the site about the next concert dates."

The web address is www.themarpleband.co.uk

With new jackets and ties and plans for the a new bandroom well under way, things at Marple are on a very encouraging up.
