Ireland Colliery Chesterfield has a number of new players in the ranks.

Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band has announced the arrival of a number of new players, and changes to its playing team.

New players

Jane Rutter comes in on euphonium, whilst John Lefley joins on back row cornet and Kate Newman takes over the 2nd horn seat. Will Robinson will be playing flugel at the forthcoming Kiverton contest, whilst there are two arrivals from their training band, in Liz and Barry Bird who play euphonium and Bb bass.

Meanwhile John Noon moves onto Eb Bass and George Newbould and Josh Newman have moved up from 3rd to 2nd cornet.

It's always dissapointing to see players leave, but with the arrival of all these new players we hope to continue the success of recent yearsBand Chairman, Graham Weighall

Leaving

Unfortunatley some other players have left the band, with Tracey Hamilton Martin, Mykee Hockham and Beverley Jane Shaw moving on to pastures new.

Warm welcome

Band chairman, Graham Weighill told 4BR: "It's always dissapointing to see players leave, but with the arrival of all these new players we hope to continue the success of recent years. All these players have played with various bands around the country and the band would like to give them a warm welcome."
