The St Austell School of Brass and Percussion has announced that national building, facilities and business services company, MITIE, has become the sponsor of their Junior Band.

New uniforms

MITIE, who have been operating in Cornwall from their St Austell office for ten years funded the purchase of a complete new set of uniforms for the band.

The St Austell Town Band has been operating their School of Brass for many years, offering free music tuition to the local community.

The band was placed runner up in their class at the recent Bugle contest — on their contesting debut.

Debut performance

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "This was our first ever competition and so it was a fantastic achievement for which the band and sponsor are immensely proud."

The band also joined forces with their senior band members to win the deportment class, after marching through the streets of Bugle.
