The Dublin Cornet Band was originally formed in 1879 and toured by wagon through Central Ohio until its final concert in 1929. With this being the bicentennial year for the City of Dublin (OH, USA), the Dublin Historical Society decided to revive the band to perform at city events, civic association meetings, school functions and various other events.
Professional musicians, as well as local band and music teachers from Dublin City Schools, have joined the Dublin Cornet Band. Several of the band members performed at The Dublin Foundation’s Emerald Celebration in February.
The revival of that Dublin Cornet Band has received support from the Dublin Foundation and Dublin Historical Society (Herbert W. Jones, President).
The band’s re-debut include the City of Dublin’s Independence Day Parade on July 3, 2010, as well as the Historical Society’s Heritage Day on Oct. 2, 2010. The band plans to continue to perform well past Dublin’s bicentennial.
