Stape Silver Band has appointed Tabby Clegg to lead its assault on the Fourth Section National Finals in Harrogate in September.
Retirement
Following the retirement of Bandmaster Mike Breckon, the band auditioned a number of candidates and was pleased to be able to offer Tabby Clegg the post.
Having graduated from the RNCM and played with many top bands in her playing career, Tabby recently stepped down as principal cornet of Yorkshire Co-op Brass Band after 12 years.

Family values
Tabby told 4BR: "I'm delighted to be commencing a full-time conducting career with the opportunity to direct this fantastic band to the National Finals. Stape is an ambitious team with superb team and family values and it is a pleasure to make the long journey each week to work with them."
Variety
Tabby added: "Having held the principal cornet position and managed Yorkshire Co-op for the last 12 years it is a fresh challenge taking over the reins of a band. Along with running two businesses and undertaking other playing, conducting and adjudication work both at home and overseas, I now have plenty of musical variety."
