No doubting Thomas at Thoresby

Huw Thomas is the new resident at the helm at Thoresby Colliery Band.

Thomas

Following their recent signing of Claire Taylor on principal cornet, Thoresby Colliery has announced that they have now appointed Huw Thomas as their new Resident Conductor.

Outstanding outfit

Huw, who studied his MA in Music Performing (Conducting) at Durham University, helped prepare the band for their recent at the Grand Shield where the band retained their place for next year’s competition.

Huw told 4BR: "Thoresby is an outstanding outfit. I thoroughly enjoyed the preparation work I did on Rococo and I’m delighted I’ll be doing more work with them."

Continued Staff support

He will continue to work with the Staffordshire Band who he led to the runner up spot the Senior Cup in Blackpool (perhaps the one element of Welsh success that the banding media didn’t pick up on).

Potential

Professional MD Melvin White is looking forward to working with the Welshman: "In my short time at Thoresby I have been lucky enough to work with some fabulous musicians. I now look forward to developing a partnership with Huw that will enable the band to develop the potential that it clearly exhibits."
