Radio: Listen to the Band

Plenty to enjoy from Frank Renton in the weeks to come.

Renton

Listen to the Band:

Radio 2 transmission on 17th June — 10.30pm

Just after they had successfully defended their European title in Linz this year, Cory, with conductor Robert Childs played at the Gala Concert.

We hear original music by Philip Wilby, a Glenn Miller medley and the stunning tenor horn playing of Owen Farr in his own arrangement of the finale to one of Haydn's cello concerts.

We also hear from the host Brass Band Oberosterreich who have confirmed their presence on the European scene with their best competition placing so far.

Radio 2 transmission on 24th June — 10.30pm

Frank Renton presents Brass band Oberosterreich at the gala concert following the recent European Championships held in Linz.

Before Hans Buchegger formed the band their was virtually no brass band scene in Austria to speak of and their increasing success in the competition has put them firmly on the European map.

Hans Gansch, the brilliant ex lead trumpet of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra brings his piccolo trumpet, and we hear Oberosterreich favourites including the vocals of Regina Millinger who has also recorded with them.
