Taylor made at Thoresby

Claire Taylor is the new principal cornet payer at Thoresby — and makes her debut at the Grand Shield this weekend.

Thoresby

Thoresby Colliery has announced that they have signed Claire Taylor as their new principal cornet in time to make her debut with the band at the Grand Shield contest on Saturday.

Claire played soprano cornet with both Carlton Main Frickley and YBS, before joining Hepworth (Cookson Homes) two and a half years ago on assistant principal cornet.

Great times

Claire told 4BR: "I've had a great time with Hepworth over the past couple of years and been part of some great performances. They have been very tolerant of my work situation and I thank them for this and wish them well in the future."

Claire continued: "Following the birth of my son last September I have been looking for a position closer to home which required less travelling, and have accepted the position at Thoresby. I look forward to a successful working relationship with the band beginning with the Grand Shield."

Impression

Thoresby are delighted to have landed their new player. "Claire has already made quite an impression in the band room with her fine tonal quality and impressive technique," MD, Melvin White told 4BR. "Her vast experience has allowed her to instantly take on the role of section leader."
