Results: Elland Slow Melody & Quartet Contest

There was a fine turn out of players at the recent Elland Slow Melody and Quartet Competition.

The Elland Silver Band 21st Annual Slow Melody & Quartet contest recently took place on Sunday May 9th. The adjudicator was Barry Thompson.

Exceptional playing

Kathleen Harrison told 4BR: "Whilst the entry was lower than in previous years the standard was quite high, with some fine playing in all sections. Special mention must go to the 11 years & under class where there was exceptional playing from such young children."

Bright future

Kathleen added: "The recent TV production 'A Band for Britain' gave the impression of the demise of the British brass band, but these young people showed that the heart and soul of banding is in very safe hands and the future looks very bright for our wonderful heritage."
