Ramsey Town Band are celebrating a number of top class results in the recent brass section of the Manx Music Festival.
Classy
Up and coming cornet player Jason Turner (9 years old) won the first solo prize of the day performing 'Ragamuffin', followed by Illiam Quane winning his class with with a classy performance of 'Napoli', closely followed by his sister Ellen in second place.
Credit should also go to Katie Revill, Florence Wood and Alfie Leach who took three of the next four places, whilst Illiam's sister Meghan Quane was not to be outdone and she won the Year 11-13 class with a stylish rendition of 'Zelda'.
Nippers
The ‘Neptune Street Nippers’ ensembles also took 1st and 3rd prizes and the Ramsey Town Band quartet won the open quartet class playing Gilbert Vinter's 'Fancies Knell'.
The day was rounded off by a second place in the open solo to musical Director Robert Quane playing 'The Nightingale' on soprano.

Sunday success
Success continued on Sunday where Ramsey's quartets won 1st, 3rd and 4th places in the Under Year 10 Brass Quartet Class.
On Sunday evening, Ramsey Town Band were a creditable second place in the test piece class playing Gareth Wood's 'Hinemoa' and then to crown a memorable weekend, adjudicator Steven Pritchard-Jones placed Ramsey first in the 20 minute programme class and awarded the George Ridgeway Trophy for best soloist to Illiam Quane who wowed the audience with Kenny Baker's 'Virtuosity'.
